The latest Top United Kingdom Hedge Funds list has been released, showing that the assets of the biggest hedge fund investors in the UK have remained flat since the Brexit vote. The total assets of the top 50 hedge funds remain steady at around $115 billion in US equity assets.

The top three UK-based hedge funds continue to manage more than $10 billion in equity assets. Headlining the list for another quarter is Longview Partners Ltd ($15B, #1). Landsdown Partners ($10.6B, #3) relinquished the second spot to Marshall Wace Asset Management ($11.6B, #2). Egerton Capital ($8.9B, #4) was previously third on the list and fell below the $10B threshold this quarter after seeing assets fall more than $1.5B.

The Children's Investment Fund Mgmt ($7.3B, #5) is a newcomer in the top 5 this quarter after moving up two spots driven by a $2B increase in assets. The Children's Investment Fund Mgmt (TCI) is a hedge fund manager founded by Chris Hohn in 2003. A portion of TCI's profits go to The Children's Investment Fund Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on improving the lives of children living in poverty in developing countries.

The vast majority of the top 50 UK funds are based in London, including all of the top 11 funds. The highest ranking non-London based fund is OxFORD Asset Management, which is based in Oxford. OxFORD is a quantitative, multi-strategy hedge fund that applies computational models to financial markets, analysing a range of data and information, and exploiting relationships among financial instruments such as stocks, futures, and currencies.

22 of the top 50 funds utilize a long/short equity approach, including 4 of the top 5. Quantitative funds also have a significant presence – holding 9 spots on the list.
