Aviva Investors appointed Ian Berry as fund manager of infrastructure and renewable energy investments earlier this month. According to the press release, Mr. Berry’s new position will entail overseeing the development of Aviva’s infrastructure capability as well as serving as the portfolio manager for the managing the Aviva Investors European Renewable Energy Fund, which was launched in November of 2006 with targeted asset of over $600 million.
Based in London, Berry will report to Ben Stirling, the managing director of Continental European Real Estate. Regarding the appointment, Stirling commented that “Ian is an experienced fund manager who has proven his investment credentials in the renewables and infrastructure sectors and I am delighted with his appointment…Infrastructure investment is a strategy that Aviva Investors is looking to further develop over the long term, and Ian will play a crucial role in laying the framework for this growth and building Aviva Investors capability and track record in this area.”
Prior to this appointment, Mr. Berry worked for BlueCrest Capital Management, identifying infrastructure-related investment opportunities in the renewable energy sector as investment director. BlueCrest Capital is one of world’s largest hedge fund managers and was was founded in 2000 by Michael Platt and William Reeves. Prior to BlueCrest, Mr. Berry worked for Ambac Assurance UK and Deutsche Bank where he was on the Project Finance Team. |
