Avoiding Risk, Marshall Wace’s Risk Officer Retires at 28

The Wall Street Journal reported yesterday that Marshall Wace partner Wasim Rehman was retiring today at the young age of 28. At the age of 26, Mr. Rehman was the firm’s youngest ever professional to make partner. He was head of the London-based hedge fund firm’s risk controls. Marshall Wace was founded in 1998 and is one of Europe’s most well-known hedge fund managers. In the 2009 EUROPE50 list, the firm was ranked #14 with $6.3 billion under management. James Hanson who was most recently the chief risk officer at Polar Capital will being taking over his responsibilities.
