Barclays Announces Sale of iShares ETF Business

Baclays plc announced today that it was selling its iShares business to European private equity firm CVC Capital Partners Group for approximately $4.4 billion. iShares is the leading global provider of exchange traded funds, offering over 350 ETFs with assets under management of approximately $330 billion.

Following the transaction, Barclays plc will continue to be one of the world’s largest asset management firms through Barclays Global Investors, which is its institutional asset management subsidiary.
