|With Asian markets becoming more and more volatile, the predictability of Asian quant funds has become challenging for hedge fund managers. According to Bloomberg News, Christopher Lee, the Chief Investment Officer of Zentific Investment Management; has developed a computer model claiming to consistently pinpoint trading opportunities in 13 Asian equities markets. HS Group of Hong Kong, a provider of long-term capital to start-up hedge funds released an e-mail statement this week announcing that they will become Zentific Investment Managements first investor. Other investors were described in the release as being “unidentified institutions”. |
Asia-Pac exchanges now have nearly 8,000 stocks. Their combined market value is estimated to be over $200 million dollars. According to data assembled by Bloomberg, using computer models to predict Asian markets is not exactly new. Sensato Capital Management, based in San Francisco, has used computer models since 2010 to identify Asia-focused quant fund trading trends. In 2014, Sensato Capital Management generated a 13 percent return to their grateful investors.
