A number of established hedge fund managers continue to add to their investment teams by hiring industry veterans. In this week’s report, we look at recent hires made by Brevan Howard Asset Management, Carlson Capital and Eton Park Capital Management.
The first firm on this week’s list is Brevan Howard Asset Management, a global hedge fund manager that oversees approximately $26 billion. Alan Howard’s firm recently added four veterans to its investment team. The list includes Fabrizio Gallo, Richard Chau, Danny Bernheim and Mark Hillery.

Gallo oversaw prop trading at Morgan Stanley, while Chau was the head of equity structuring in the bank’s New York office. Previously, Bernheim and Hillery were with Merrill Lynch and hedge fund manager Tudor Investment Corporation, respectively.
Next up is Dallas-based Carlson Capital, which oversees approximately $2.9 billion in US equities. The hedge fund manager, which has been on a major hiring spree over the last year, made a significant addition by hiring Jason Karp. Mr. Karp was previously the director of research and a portfolio manager at CR Intrinsic Investors, which is a Stanford, CT-based subsidiary of SAC Capital.
Jason Karp joins the firm as a co-chief investment officer and will work alongside the firm’s founder and other Chief Investment Officer Clint Carlson. Mr. Carlson founded Carlson Capital in 1993. The firm manages the Black Diamond group of hedge funds, separate managed accounts and fund of hedge funds.
Finally, Eric Mindich’s Eton Park Capital Management, which manages approximately $2.8 billion in US equities, has added Andrew Brownstein to its team. Mr. Brownstein joins Eton Park from the Blackstone Group where he was an analyst.
