Clinton Group and Spotlight Capital target Red Robin, form Shareholder Activist investment group

Clinton Group and Spotlight Capital Management announced December 21st they were forming an investment group for the purpose of increasing communication regarding their investments in Red Robin Gourmet Burgers (NASDAQ: RRGB). The two firms also disclosed that they had a combined 5.7% holding in the restaurant chain, or 890,750 shares outstanding. According to the HFF Catalyst Equity Research Report, the partnership also disclosed their intent to review with the Board of Directors specific issues regarding business strategy, management accountability, and operational issues amongst other concerns.

The Clinton Group is a multi-strategy hedge fund manager that was founded by President George Hall in 1991. Spotlight Capital Management LLC is a sharholder activist focused hedge fund manager that was founded by managing member Gregory Taxin in 2008.
