Credit Suisse’s former head of Asian proprietary credit trading, Stephen Satchell, has announced that he is launching a credit fund that will focus on Asian markets, reports Bloomberg. The new firm, GCS Capital Management, will be headquartered in Singapore and is planning to begin trading in July or August.

The firm’s maiden fund, GCS Asian Opportunity Fund I, will likely open with Satchell’s own capital, although Satchell disclosed that he is in discussions with several institutional investors. “The goal of the fund is to be fairly nimble and opportunistic to focus on transactions that we think are mispriced,” according to Satchell.

The firm has also hinted at opening a second fund that would require a longer-term lockup.
