These emerging managers are all headquartered in New York City and include Slate Path Capital, Encompass Capital Advisors and SeaStone Capital Management.|
Slate Path Capital is ranked #116 on the Top New York Metro Area Hedge Fund List and #24 on the Top Technology, Media & Telecom Focused Hedge Fund List. Slate Path was founded last year by David Greenspan who was previously a partner and managing director at John Griffin’s Blue Ridge Capital. Greenspan joined Blue Ridge in 2000 where he was previously responsible for managing a sub-portfolio for the $6.5 billion hedge fund manager. Slate Path Capital’s founding investment team includes two of Greenspan’s Blue Ridge colleagues, Stephen Cook and Ethan Binder.
Encompass Capital Advisors is ranked #143 on the Top New York Metro Area Hedge Fund List, #14 on the Top Mid-Sized Hedge Fund List, and #10 on the Top 50 Commodities Equity Focused Hedge Fund List. Encompass Capital is an energy stock focused hedge fund manager that was founded in late 2011 by lead portfolio manager Todd Kantor. Kantor spun-off Encompass Capital from Ken Griffin’s Citadel Investment Group. Not only did Kantor receive a reported $100 million in seed funding from Ken Griffin, but he also brought Holt Calhoon, Peter Chidyllo, Michael Jacobs and Jeremy Sussman from Citadel’s PioneerPath group along with him to launch Encompass.
SeaStone Capital Management is ranked #62 on the Top Mid-Sized Hedge Fund List and #171 on the Top New York Metro Area Hedge Fund List. Kenney Y. Oh founded SeaStone Capital last year and launched its flagship SeaStone Partners hedge fund with $205M in assets under management. Before launching SeaStone, Mr. Oh was a Senior Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at Reservoir Capital Group. Prior to Reservoir Capital, Kenney Oh was the Co-Founder and Head of Research at SAB Capital Management.
