| April 9th, 2010 | ||
| In this week’s hedge fund hire report, we look at recent hires made by a few notable emerging managers that were launched within the last couple of years, including: Matthew Grossman’s Plural Investments LLC, Zoe Cruz’s Voras Capital Management and Barclays Capital spin-off C12 Capital Management. Plural Investments , which was one of the largest hedge fund start-ups of 2008 with $900 million in AUM at launch, has recently made several veteran additions to its portfolio management ranks. Before founding Plural Investments, CEO & Chief Investment Officer Matthew Grossman was the chief investment officer at CR Intrinsic, a subsidiary of Steven A. Cohen's SAC Capital. The firm’s new portfolio managers include Justin Smolkin, Haibo Yu and Nick O'Grady. Prior to joining Plural Investments, Mr. Smolkin was a Vice-President at Morgan Stanley and before that was an analyst at hedge fund manager Catapult Capital. Finally, Mr. O'Grady, who joined Plural late last year, was previously a portfolio manager at Highbridge Capital Management. Before Highbridge, he was senior analyst at Sandell Asset Management where he covered energy and utility stocks. | ||
