In this week’s HedgeTracker Fund Spotlight, we look at two London-based fixed income managers that have been actively raising assets. The list includes established manager BlueBay Asset Management and emerging hedge fund manager PVE Capital.

BlueBay Asset Management plc recently announced in a statement that its assets under management (AUM) had increased from $31.1 billion in September of 2009 to $34.3 billion at the end of December. According to Bloomberg, this 10% increase in AUM for the fixed income focused manager is attributable to new money inflows as the credit markets rebounded following the crisis. BlueBay first went public in 2006 and was the best performing stock on the FTSE 350 Financial Services Index last year.

PVE Capital was founded in 2009 by Gennaro Pucci, Joe Vittoria and Christian Evans. In October of 2009, PVE Capital joined forces with Matrix Alternative Asset Management to launch the Matrix-PVE Global Credit Fund. PVE Capital acts as the fund’s investment advisor, while Matrix provides infrastructure and risk management. The fund uses a long/short strategy to take advantage of opportunities in fixed income and global credit markets. Matrix Group is a financial services provider that specializes in corporate capital, asset management, and property and specialized finance. Both PVE Capital and Matrix Group are based in London.

The launch of the Matrix-PVE Global Credit Fund was one of the most successful hedge fund launches of 2009, raising more than over $100 million in AUM. To view the other top launches of 2009, please see “Top Hedge Fund Firm Launches of 2009 raised over $3 billion.”
