Former Korea Investment Corporation CIO Starts Blue Rice Investment Management

Korea Investment Corporation’s former chief investment officer, Guan Ong, has launched Blue Rice Investment Management, an Asian-focused credit fund, according to Asia Asset Management. The Singapore headquartered firm will invest in both high yield and investment grade securities as well as macro strategies. The firm will exclusively focus on dollar-denominated credits issued by Asian companies.

The firm’s first fund, the BRIM Asian Credit Fund, is trying to raise $50mm for its initial launch.

Prior to joining Korea Investment Corporation, Ong worked in South Korea for Prudential Asset Management Co where he managed bond portfolios.
