Former Soros Alums Launch Woodbine Capital Advisors

Woodbine Capital Advisors is launched with $200 million in assets by former Soros Fund Management alums Josh Berkowitz and Marcel Kasumovich. The partners had initially hoped to raise $1 billion but fell victim to an unfriendly capital raising environment.

The firm is based in New York and will utilize a global macro strategy and employ junior portfolio managers to run “sub-portfolios” that follow subsets of the global-macro strategy, according to Hedge Fund Alert.

Co-founder Josh Berkowitz was a portfolio manager at Soros Fund Management from 2005 to 2008 where he focused on global macro strategies. Prior to that, he was a fund manager at SAC Capital Advisors and a proprietary trader at Goldman Sachs.
