PSQR Management LLC has hired Merrill Lynch & Co’s former chief international economist Alex Patelis. According to an article from the Wall Street Journal, Mr. Patelis left Merrill in January while the rocky Bank of America merger integration was beginning.

PSQR was founded by Paolo Pellegrini in January after he left Paulson & Co.. While at Paulson, Mr. Pellegrini co-managed a large credit fund and was involved in Paulson’s famous $15 billion profit from betting against the subprime-mortgage market. The fund currently manages approximately $100 million of Mr. Pellegrini’s personal wealth and plans to open-up to outside investors sometime this summer.
