Founders of Gladius Investment Group, RA Capital, Plainfield and Passport Set to Present

The Institutional Investor Alpha Hedge Conference starts on Sunday in San Francisco and will feature many of the top names in the hedge fund industry. Monday morning’s keynote speaker will be Max Holmes, the Founder & Chief Investment Officer of Plainfield Asset Management. Tuesday’s keynote will be given by John Burbank III, Managing Member & Chief Investment Officer of San Francisco-based Passport Capital.

One of Monday’s panel discussions, “Volatility & The World Today,” will feature Pav Sethi, the CEO and Chief Investment Officer of Gladius Investment Group and Barry Colvin, the Vice-Chairman of Balyasny Asset Management LP. Mr. Sethi announced last month that he had founded his volatility-focused hedge fund firm Gladius Investment Group. The firm’s first fund is set to launch sometime this month. From 2004 to 2008, Mr. Sethi was the Global Head of Volatility Trading at Citadel Investment Group. Prior to that, he spent two years as a Volatility Portfolio Manager at JD Capital Management.

Another notable attendee will is Dr. Peter Kolchinsky who will be joining “The Big Picture: The Global Economy” panel discussion. Mr. Kolchinsky is the Managing Director and founder of RA Capital Management, a biotech-focused public equity investment advisor that specializes in the life-sciences and drug development sectors.
