GLG Partners Entering Retail Market
| June 8th, 2009 | ||
| GLG Partners is planning to offer a series of alternative UCITS funds to retail investors in the United Kingdom later this year. According to an article from the Financial Times, the first fund is set to launch in September and will mirror GLG’s absolute return focused UK Alpha Select Equity Fund, which returned 13% in 2008.
In the article, GLG’s Pierre Lagrange commented “we think we’re probably going to be the first real hedge fund manager to bring something to that [absolute return] space as opposed to the present incumbents, who have largely been long-only equity players who have decided to move into absolute return.” Notably, although GLG does not currently offer absolute return funds directly to retail investors, it has for sometime served as a sub-advisor to retail funds that are marketed by Banca Fideuram and Allfunds. | ||
