The past few months have been very busy for London-based asset manager Gartmore Investment Management, as the firm has completed a string of six new investment hires. Most recently, Gartmore announced the hiring of John Bennett and Luke Newman, which according to Chief Investment Officer Dominic Rossi, will help “accelerate organic growth.”
Mr. Bennett will become a Senior Portfolio Manager of European Equities and will be responsible for the Gartmore European Selected Opportunities and Gartmore SICAV Continental European Funds. He was formerly the manager of a European Equity fund at investment management firm GAM. Mr. Bennett is expected to join Gartmore in early 2010.
Once Mr. Bennett joins the firm, the current managers of European Equities, Roger Guy and Guillaume Rambourg, will move to concentrate on the growing list of alternative investment products at Gartmore.
Assuming responsibility alongside current manager Ben Wallace for the Gartmore UK Absolute Return and AlphaGen Octanis Funds will be Luke Newman effective June 29. Mr. Newman has prior experience in UK equity and long/short fund management at Deutsche Asset Management, Foreign & Colonial, and Altima Partners LLP.
