In this week’s hedge fund hiring report, we look at recent additions made by BlueCrest Capital Management, JD Capital Management, Paulson & Co, Mudrick Capital Management, and C12 Capital Management. BlueCrest Capital and JD Capital have hired new portfolio managers, while Paulson & Co, Mudrick Capital, and C12 Capital have strengthened their investor relations and advisory teams with veteran additions.
BlueCrest Capital Management has hired Marcin Wiszniewski as a portfolio manager. Mr. Wiszniewski was previously the head of Morgan Stanley's European foreign exchange and emerging markets trading. At Bluecrest Capital, Mr. Wiszniewski will manage the $500 million BlueCrest Emerging Markets Fund. London-based BlueCrest was founded in 2000 by Michael Platt and William Reeves and currently manages approximately $13 billion.
JD Capital Management, a $350 million volatility specialist, has hired Denny Wong and Achal Agarwal. The pair previously founded volatility focused Volathon Capital Management, which they closed down a year after launching. Prior to Volathon, Wong was a trader at Merrill Lynch, while Agarwal was a trader at hedge fund Onyx Capital Management.
The London office of Paulson & Co , Paulson Europe, has appointed Tim Maher as a senior vice president. Mr. Maher was previously a SVP at Och-Ziff Capital Management and before that he worked in capital introduction JPMorgan in London and Bear Stearns. At Paulson Europe, Mr. Maher will co-head the investor relations team with Jonas Frantz. John Paulson’s Paulson & Co. was founded in 1994 and manages merger arbitrage and event-driven stragies, as well as real-estate recovery and gold focused hedge funds.
