Hedge Fund Job Report: BlueCrest Capital, Argonaut Capital, Finisterre, Grosvenor, & FrontPoint Partners

|In this week’s hedge fund hiring report, we look at recent additions made by a wide array of large hedge fund managers from multi-strategy and global macro managers to emerging markets, credit and funds of funds specialists. The hedge funds in this week’s report include BlueCrest Capital Management, Argonaut Capital Management, Finisterre Capital LLP, Grosvenor Capital Management, and FrontPoint Partners.|
Michael Platt and William Reeves’ London-based BlueCrest Capital Management has made a number of veteran additions to its New York office from investment banks. The hedge fund manager has added Dario Villani, Stephen Waugh and Kharen Musaelian to the investment team of its multi-strategy credit fund. Villani and Waugh join BlueCrest from Deutsche Bank. Villani joined Deutsche in early 2009 as a Managing Director of Credit Trading. Before Deutsche, Villani was a Managing Director in the Global Strategic Risk Group at Merrill Lynch and a quantitative analyst on JP Morgan’s prop-desk. Waugh was previously a high yield and leveraged loan trader at Deutsch, while Musaelian was a managing director at UBS.
Next, David Gerstenhaber’s Argonaut Capital Management, which was recently featured in one of HedgeTracker’s Top Hedge Fund highlight reports, has made a number of additions to its team. Dr. Cheng Shao and Phil Tretola have recently joined the global macro focused hedge fund’s trading team. Prior to Argonaut Capital , Dr. Shao was at Steven Cohen’s SAC Capital Advisors where he developed and managed global macro trading strategies across various asset classes and was responsible for generating quant trading strategies with a focus on Asian markets. Dr. Shao received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from University of Maryland, College Park. Before joining Argonaut in March, Phil Tretola was an institutional sales person in FX and emerging markets at Morgan Stanley where he structured fixed income and derivative trading strategies.
Argonaut Capital has also hired Fiona Boal as Director of Commodities Research. Prior to Argonaut, Ms. Boal was a Vice President at the Harbert Strategic Commodities Fund. Before that, she spent eight years at Rabobank International covering the agricultural commodity markets.
