Hedge Fund Job Report: Platinum Management, George Weiss & Co and Carlson Capital

Mark Nordlicht’s Platinum Management has added a lead portfolio manager, while George Weiss & Co and Carlson Capital have poached research team members from hedge fund rivals. |
Platinum Management has hired Uri Landesman as a portfolio manager for its Multi-Strategy hedge funds. Mr. Landesman, who has more than 25 years of experience in equity investments, recently announced his departure from ING Investment Management America, where he headed the global growth group, managing $1.7 billion in pension accounts. According to Investment News, Mr. Landesman will step in as president of Platinum Partners, leaving ING in what both parties have described as an “amicable” departure.
Mr. Landesman will co-manage Platinum’s hedge funds with managing partner Mark Nordlicht, who founded the firm in 2003. The firm’s multi-strategy funds currently have approximately $500 million in assets under management.
