Hedge fund manager Mistral Capital Partners announced the establishment of their Board of Advisors on Tuesday. Members include Rand L. Alexander, CFA, the former Head of Core Equity Group and retired Partner at Wellington Management Company; Alex G. Fisher, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Archstone Portfolio Solutions; William G. Morton, Jr., former CEO and Chairman of the Boston Stock Exchange and current Trustee of the JP Morgan Funds; and J. David Wimberly, CFA, who founded and is Chairman Emeritus of Frontier Capital Management. Mr. Alexander previously was Equity Portfolio Manager and Senior Vice President at the Putnam Investment Company before joining Wellington, and Mr. Fisher is a former Vice Chairman of Mercantile Bankshares’ Investment and Wealth Management Division. Mr. Morton spent over twenty years as Director of RadioShack Corporation, and Mr. Wimberly is a former Executive Vice President of Putnam Investments and chair of the Investment Policy Committee.
Mistral was founded in 2007 by President and CIO McLane Cover. Before founding Mistral, Mr. Cover had been an Associate Portfolio Manager at the Hartford Investment Management Company, head of institutional sales at investment bank ThinkEquity, and a managing director at Citigroup Global Markets. Mistral’s flagship Tailwinds Fund was launched in January of 2008 and pursues a long-biased alpha-generating strategy.
