After taking a Sabbatical in 2008, cofounding partner Jean-Philippe Blochet left Brevan Howard Asset Management in November of 2009. In a surprising development, according to Bloomberg, Mr. Blochet will start working for Louis Bacon’s Moore Capital Management sometime this month as a senior portfolio manager. Mr. Bacon’s hedge fund firm made a similar power move in late 2008 when it hired star trader Greg Coffey away from GLG Partners.

While at Brevan Howard, Mr. Blochet was on the macro team where he invested in currencies, interest rates, and other major economic trend related investments. Prior to Brevan Howard, Mr. Blochet had worked with Alan Howard (the Howard in Brevan Howard) on Credit Suisse’s Proprietary Fixed Income Trading Desk. Notably, Moore Capital’s flagship hedge fund, Moore Global Investments, returned 21% last year through December.
