Octagon Capital Launching Asia-Focused Quant Macro Fund

Bloomberg reports that Octagon Capital Management Pte is planning to launch a quantitative macro fund to invest in the Asian Markets. The fund will be managed by Partner and Portfolio Manager Quek Jee Ngee. Prior to joining Octagon in 2008, Jee Ngee spent 15 years in New York, London and Singapore with the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC) and subsequently 3 years at OCBC Bank. At GIC, he was the Head of Quantitative Investing and was instrumental in pioneering and developing Quantitative Investing within the firm.

According to Octagon’s website, “Octagon Capital is the largest Asian-focused quantitative investment firm in Singapore.” The firm was founded by Nelson Chia and Lam Poh Min, both of whom worked previously for the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC), which is a global fund management company that manages Singapore’s foreign reserves. Octagon currently manages the Octagon Pan Asia and the Octagon Tactical Short hedge funds.
