Pardus Capital Management has recently announced that the firm has recruited Dr. Lutz Stoeber to be senior analyst. Dr. Stoeber will focus on distressed debt investments in Western Europe and Germany in particular, and he brings “significant financial analysis, private equity and leveraged buyout experience, with particular expertise in chemicals, basic manufacturing and shipping” to the European team.
Dr. Stoeber met Pardus Capital's President and Chief Investment Officer Karim Samii as well as Principal and Portfolio Manager Joseph Thornton when all three worked at WR Huff. Dr. Stoeber also previously worked at buy-out firm D. George Harris & Associates, which specializes in basic industries involving chemicals and minerals and is where Dr. Stoeber “developed his extensive industry network and concentrated on financial analysis and transactional structuring and execution.” Prior to that, Dr. Stoeber worked in the product development team at AlliedSignal.
“Among other opportunities, we have partnered with an established German shipping operator to bid on several hundred million Euros of distressed shipping assets,” stated Mr. Samii, explaining the important role Dr. Stoeber’s experience will play in the firm. “German banks are holding in excess of $100 billion of shipping loans that need to be worked out in some fashion, which makes this a very large and attractive market for us.”
Pardus Capital Management is an alternative investment manager and activist investor that was founded in 2005 by Karim Samii. Pardus Capital invests mostly in fulcrum debt, event-driven equity and post-reorganized equity in the United States, Western Europe and Latin America. |
