Samena Capital Management Launching Japan Equities Hedge Fund

Samena Capital Management will be launching the Samena Japan Absolute Return hedge fund, which will invest long and short in Japanese equities. As reported by Bloomberg, the fund will start in June with $25 million under management and will be co-managed Ramiz Hasan and Celia Farnon.

Mr. Hasan is a co-founder and Executive Director at the Samena. Prior to Samena, he was a founder and portfolio manager at Invicta Investment, where he managed the Invicta Chikara Japan hedge fund, which had assets in excess of $100 million.

Ms. Farnon is a Partner and Senior Vice President responsible for Japanese equities at the firm. Prior to joining Samena, she managed Polar Capital’s Japan-focused equities hedge fund, which at one time had assets of over $500 million.
