Tiger Global veteran Wang Chen launching Serenity Capital hedge fund

Serenity Capital, which was founded by Wang Chen in May of this year, is in the process of launching its flagship hedge fund. The new fund will focus on greater China investments, employing a long/short investment strategy. According to HedgeFund Intelligence, Zhang Lei’s Beijing-based Hillhouse Capital is one of Serenity Capital’s seed investors.

Prior to founding Serenity Capital, Wang Chen was a partner at Chase Coleman’s technology focused Tiger Global Management. He joined Tiger Global in 2006 after receiving his MBA from Harvard Business School. Earlier in his career, Wang Chen held several positions at technology companies, including Oracle and 21Vianet Software.
