Top Activist Hedge Funds surpass the $200B mark; Assets up 3.4% Year-to-Date

The Top Activist Hedge Fund Manager rankings have been released, revealing that the top funds now manage $206 billion in equity assets. Twenty-five of the hedge funds on the list have seen their assets increase by more than $100 million year-to-date, driving the list's combined assets up by $6.8 billion or 3.4%.

Leading the top gainers YTD are JANA Partners, ValueAct Capital Management and Corvex Management. ValueAct Capital is not only a top gainer, but it also ranked as the #2 largest activist fund, as well as the largest California-based hedge fund, with nearly $19 billion in equity assets.

The top spot on this quarter’s Top Activist Hedge Fund List is once again held by Carl Icahn’s Icahn Associates, while Bill Ackman’s Pershing Square Capital Management claimed the #3 spot.
