Trian's Nelson Peltz elected to Legg Mason Board

| Legg Mason (NYSE: LM), a global asset manager, announced the election of Nelson Peltz to their Board of Directors on Monday. Mr. Peltz, CEO and founding partner of the Trian Group, joined the company’s Board on Tuesday as the fourteenth member. According to a Legg Mason press release, Mr. Peltz’s election to the board follows an agreement between Legg Mason and the Trian Group, and Trian has committed to voting its shares “in favor of Legg Mason’s director nominees.” The Trian Group is a hedge fund manager that was founded by Mr. Peltz, CEO, President Peter May, and Vice Chairman Ed Garden in November of 2005. The firm is a key investor in Legg Mason, owning over 4% of the company’s outstanding common stock. Mr. Peltz is CEO of Wendy’s/Arby’s Group (NYSE: WEN) and has served as a Director of H.J. Heinz Company (NYSE: HNZ) since 2006. | ||
