|August 31st, 2014||
|After record performances in 2013, a lot of hedge fund stars are falling from the sky with lackluster returns in 2014. As reported in the New York Post, such hedge fund notables as David Tepper (Appaloosa Management - up 42 percent in 2013), Richard Perry (Perry Partners - +22 percent), Leon Cooperman (Omega Advisors – +30 percent), and Nelson Peltz (Trian Partners – +40 percent), have recorded tepid performances thus far, all trailing the 8 percent return of the broader market. |
After an eye-popping performance in 2013, Jeff Altman (Owl Creek – 49 percent) is off 3 percent through August. Hedge fund icons, Louis Bacon and Paul Tudor Jones are similarly under water.
