Growth styled hedge funds and institutional investors primarily invest in companies that are believed to be positioned for above-average growth. Typically, growth companies trade at high price-to-earnings ratios and have high expected growth rates. Most growth-oriented hedge funds employ long/short equity strategies and are sector agnostic, although many tend to focus more on higher growth industries, such as technology, biotech and clean-tech.
