Growth styled hedge funds and institutional investors primarily invest in companies that are believed to be positioned for above-average growth. Typically, growth companies trade at high price-to-earnings ratios and have high expected growth rates. Most growth-oriented hedge funds employ long/short equity strategies and are sector agnostic, although many tend to focus more on higher growth industries, such as technology, biotech and clean-tech. Some of the more prominent growth hedge funds include Phil Gross and Robert Atchinson's Adage Capital Partners, Noam Gottesman and Pierre Lagrange's GLG Partners and Richard Chilton's Chilton Investment Company.
