Sector Specific hedge funds or "Sector Funds" focus their investment strategies on narrow industry sectors globally or sometimes just domestically. Sector Funds' investment teams often rely on in-depth bottom-up research to identify the best of breed investment opportunities in their sectors. The investment teams generally have deep sector knowledge and often rely on industry connections and thought leaders when exploring investment theses. Many sector funds focus on high-tech sectors or industries that require high R&D investments like the Technology, Biotech, Cleantech as well as the Tech, Media and Telecom (TMT) sectors. A large number of sector specific funds also focus on investing in Energy, Financials, Healthcare and Commodities. Some of the most well-known sector hedge funds include: energy specialists T.
