BP Capital Management is an energy-focused private investment firm founded in 1996 by Chief Investment Officer Boone Pickens. Mr. Pickens previously founded the company that would later become the natural gas and oil producer Mesa Energy, Inc. in 1956. He stepped down as Mesa's Chief Executive in 1996. More recently, Mr. Pickens has ventured into alternative energy space with plans to create one of the world's largest wind farms in Texas. Mr. Pickens is also co-founder, director, and 30% shareholder of natural gas provider Clean Energy Fuels (NASDAQ: CLNE). BP Capital manages the BP Capital Equity Fund and the BP Capital Commodity Fund.
