Institutional Investor Background

Point72 Asset Management (SAC Capital) is a hedge fund manager that was founded in 1992 by Steven A. Cohen. In March 2014, following a settlement with the SEC, SAC Capital Advisors closed its doors to outside investors and changed its name to Point72 Asset Management, a family office. The firm now manages Steve Cohen’s personal fortune, and the assets of certain eligible employees.

Prior to 2014, the firm's subsidiaries had included San Francisco-based Canvas Capital (Tech & Asia), Stamford-based CR Intrinsic Investors (Equity) and NY-based Sigma Capital Management (Sector-focused US Equity & Debt). London-based S.A.C. Global Investors LLP, formerly Walter Capital Management, was an independent investment manager affiliated with SAC, that invested principally in non-US equity and debt securities.
